Tripp Lite SK5TEL-0 5 Outlet Extender Surge Protector with Phone Port

Wall outlets behind a nightstand or office desk fill up fast. We built this direct plug-in tap to expand a duplex receptacle into a small cluster of outlets while clamping down transient spikes on the AC line and telephone run. It sits flush against the wall plate with no dangling cord.

What it does

How this one is built

Direct plug housing

The compact block plugs directly into an existing wall receptacle without a power cord to clutter the floor. It packs down small enough for a laptop bag and stays seated flat against standard wall plates.

Diagnostic indicator lights

A pair of built-in LEDs shows circuit status at a glance. Green confirms the suppression components are active on the line, while red indicates an intact ground connection at the wall outlet.

Phone line jacks

Built-in telephone connections handle transient voltage on incoming communication lines. A dial-up modem, fax machine, or cordless base station plugs in through the side jacks using the supplied phone line cord.

Automatic circuit shutoff

Internal switching cuts power through the outlets if the suppression circuit takes a hit heavy enough to compromise internal components. That stops unconditioned line voltage from passing through to connected hardware.
