Tripp Lite USB to Serial Adapter Cable, USB-A to DB9 RS232, Male-to-Male, 5 Feet / 1.5 Meters
Legacy serial gear still runs in shops, server closets and labs long after computers dropped the serial port. We built this adapter cable to bridge modern USB-A ports to serial hardware without an external power brick. It handles modems, terminal equipment and older diagnostic tools on modern workstations.

How this one is built
Shielded serial reach
Tinned copper braiding paired with aluminum Mylar foil shielding limits signal cross-talk and line interference along the run. The cable holds its connection between the host terminal and your serial device without needing separate power drops.
Direct host connection
A standard USB Type-A plug on one side feeds into your laptop or desktop workstation. The other side terminates in a solid serial connector with thumbscrews to seat firmly into older serial ports on switches, modems or shop equipment.
Broad system support
We maintain downloadable driver packages for common operating setups across Windows, Mac and Linux platforms. Newer kernels handle the interface directly, letting you communicate with field equipment from the machine you already carry.
Molded connector ends
The plug ends feature molded strain relief where the black jacket meets each connector shell. That keeps repeated bends behind desks and equipment carts from weakening the internal wire terminations over years of use.
