Tripp Lite Network Copper RJ45 Ethernet to Fiber SC Duplex Singlemode Cable Extender Converter
Copper cable runs out of steam once you cross a warehouse floor or link separate buildings. This converter turns your standard network drop into light down a singlemode fiber pair, then sends it across long site runs without picking up electrical noise.
Price as our retail partner last listed it. They set it and they can change it, so the figure on their page is the one that counts at checkout.
- EXTEND YOUR GIGABIT EITHERNET SIGNAL: This fiber transceiver unit converts a copper Ethernet signal to singlemode fiber (and vice versa) to extend a 10/100/1000 Mbps Gigabit Ethernet connection up to 12. 4 miles (20 kilometers). Two converters are needed to extend an Ethernet connection. Includes North America, U. K. , Europe and Australia plug adapters
- EXTEND BEYOND THE LIMITS OF COPPER: Because Cat5e/6 cables are limited to only 100 meters, it is more effective to couple the N785-INT-SC-SM with singlemode fiber cable to reach greater distances.
- SUPPORTS SINGLEMODE FIBER WITH SC CONNECTORS: Singlemode fiber optic cabling with SC ends connect the two converters, and copper cabling connects the converter to your desired network components.
- ADVANCED FEATURES: This single mode media converter supports automatic network speed sensing, full/half-duplex auto-detection and automatic MDI/MDIZ configuration. Six LEDs indicate the converter’s Ethernet network and fiber link status at a glance.
- COMMON APPLICATION: This could include providing network connectivity to employees in a secluded area of a facility, college or branch office or connecting multiple office workstations to a switch located in a separate building.
How this one is built
Long site runs
Copper patch leads tie your switch to the converter, and singlemode fiber carries the traffic out to the next building. Using a pair of these units bridges spaces where twisted pair cannot carry a signal.
Duplex SC termination
The optical side accepts standard push-on SC duplex fiber connectors. That gives you a solid mechanical seat that stays put in an equipment cabinet, alongside the standard RJ-type jack for your local patch cord.
Automatic link negotiation
The unit detects network speeds and switches between full and half duplex on its own. Internal crossover logic adjusts for straight or crossover copper cables without flipping external dip switches.
Status lights and power
Indicator lights across the housing show link presence and network traffic on both copper and glass sides. The included power supply comes with swappable wall blades for North American and overseas outlets.
